Foundations of Public Speaking Video Course
Project type
Video Course
Date
Spring 2026
This instructional video series was designed to transform high-stakes communication anxiety into professional leadership through a blend of social-cognitive theory and classical rhetoric. By integrating Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset framework, the curriculum reframes "glossophobia" from an inherent trait into a malleable skill, encouraging learners to embrace challenges as paths to mastery. The instructional flow moves from internal mindset shifts to the practical application of Aristotle’s Rhetorical Triangle, utilizing real-world case studies—such as Snopes fact-checking investigations—to teach Logos and information literacy. Furthermore, the series incorporates Invitational Rhetoric to teach inclusive communication, ensuring learners can foster psychological safety and connection in diverse professional environments. The final deliverable provides a scaffolded learning experience, complete with logical outline templates and source-verification checklists, designed to yield measurable improvements in both speaker confidence and message clarity.
